Mr. Bresnahan, a proud, lifelong resident of Peabody was born on December 18, 1922, the oldest child of Michael Henry and Margaret Bresnahan in his beloved “Crow Village” neighborhood. She was born to Fred and Rose Dugan on October 3, 1927 in Corona, New York. Upon graduation from high school, she worked as a legal secretary in a Manhattan law firm. Theresa was the young bride of a handsome World War II army soldier.
They married on January 12, 1945 as he returned from service in Germany and France. Together they raised four children in a very loving, caring home, the same home in which she grew up. She also worked as a parish secretary at St. Leo’s Church in Corona for almost 25 years before retiring to Wilton, NY. Marie M. Beverly was born in Savannah, GA to the late Howard Ezell Peavy and Earle Burnsed Peavy. She was also preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Thomas Edward Long, Sr., and a nephew, Leslie Howard Peavy, Jr. Beverly was a lifetime teacher who felt the call to teach in first grade. After graduating from Georgia Teachers College, she returned to Marlow Elementary to begin her 33 year career as a teacher in various grades before becoming Lead Teacher.
In appreciation for his service the Lion’s Club awarded him the status of Monarch Lion. He was deeply committed to his Catholic faith and to St. John’s Parish in Peabody. Through the St. John’s community, he became involved in numerous charitable endeavors including the St. Vincent DePaul Society with which he had a special bond.
Like many in his generation, his education was interrupted by World War II and he served in the United States Army during the war. Upon his discharge from the Army in 1945 Mr. Bresnahan re-started M. H. Bresnahan & Sons, a painting and decorating contracting business owned by his father prior to his sudden death in 1945. He attended night school while working, earning a business degree from Northeastern University in 1949. This is the fee for the services the funeral home will provide during a graveside service. She enjoyed sewing and cooking for her family and others. In her later years, she loved watching the squirrels and birds in her yard. She received great joy when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren visited with her and she was able to read to them.
